Judith Levine
This is a souvenir from a visit to the Factory at Chorzów, the potassium nitrate plant made famous by the 1928 judgment of the Permanent Court of International Justice, containing the classic general statement of the consequences of an internationally wrongful act of a State, oft-cited and mispronounced to this day (including in my practice as an international arbitrator). The ornament was a gift from the CEO of the still functioning factory Azoty Chorzów in December 2018, who welcomed a delegation of international lawyers (Judith Levine, Mónica Feria Tinta, Nicola Peart and Camilla Pondel) and gave us a tour of the factory line, on the side of the COP24 climate change conference which we were attending in nearby Katowice.
